Baby Boo Photography Things To Know » baby and children's photography

  • About the artist

Jennifer is a self taught photographer who along with her office assistant and mom, Kathy, run Baby Boo Photography Studio. Baby Boo Photography is now in it's 10th year of providing quality, fun and affordable baby and children's portraits.

Jennifer is a former primary school teacher and has a master’s degree in elementary education. After becoming a mother for the first time in 2000, she decided to quit teaching and stay at home to raise her new son. Used to working a lot, she soon became bored and picked up a camera and started shooting portraits of her precious baby boy. Through trial and error, a few tears, and the addition of a second child, Baby Boo Photography was born.

It took another year and the building of a new house and workspace for the studio to take off. Baby Boo Photography has been in business for 8 years now and is providing parents with timeless memories and Jennifer a little cuddly time with the babies. Jennifer is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and serves on the board of the KY Professional Photographers Association. She holds her Master Photographer's degree and she has won several print awards including Kentucky's children's photographer of the year in 2010 and has been named one of the top ten photographers in Kentucky 4 years in a row.

The studio is located in her home in beautiful Nicholasville, KY. Her home and work is shared with her ever supportive husband Frank, her two children Andrew and Kaitlyn, along with their two cats Emma and Coco and Caramel the bunny, Jennifer is a warm and friendly person who will immediately become a friend to you and your child.

Wondering where the studio name came from? It happens to be the pet name she gave Andrew when he was a baby. Since he was the reason she picked up a camera to begin with, she decided it made an appropriate name for her studio.

I know it’s been a few weeks, so here are lots of images!!

OK, so I’ve been a bit lax about posting to the blog. We had a computer crash about 3 weeks ago and it has really put me behind on my posts since I had to set up a new computer with all my stuff and programs. Luckily only a few personal things were lost in the crash. I always backup my client files to an external drive and also burn them to a DVD, so I have backups. I REALLY need to find the time to go through and backup on DVD all my personal family images. Finding the time to do all those extra little things is very hard to do sometimes.

So, I am going to post many many images in this post, so expect a long one. Thanks so much for looking and please feel free to leave comments. I love hearing what others have to say about our images. Also if you want to see more become a fan of our facebook page and Like us!!

February 27, 2012

It’s Monday again, so another set of images posted to Facebook and to the Blog. I’m so excited that the blog is up and running correctly now. Apparently last week the Under Construction was still on and many could not view it from the links I posted. That has now been fixed and we are ready to go!! This past week was full of new babies and our beautiful Fairy sessions. I love photographing the fairies, but it seems like they are not as popular as they once were. We had a total of 4 sessions and 8 total fairies. So I think that starting next year this will be a once every 2 year kind of session and may eventually phase the out. I always have at least one mom who has been waiting to do the fairies…

I will be sending out our email newsletter tomorrow or Tuesday, so look for that in your inbox. It will have dates for our Easter/ Spring sessions with our bunny Caramel as well as the start date for our Very Popular Garden sessions.  We have the calendar scheduled out now til about mid June, so if you are wanting to book your next appt. please give Kathy a call. She is here Mon-Thurs and Sat from 9-1.

Did you know that we go out and photograph preschools? If your preschool is looking for a GREAT children’s photographer to come to them this spring to photograph the children give us a call!! We already have 3 preschools we photograph and would LOVE to add yours. We have limited days we can do these sessions, so call us soon.    885-8501

This was a very special newborn session I photographed a couple of weeks ago. Baby F. is the son of my Andrew’s Glee teacher. This session was our gift to her when F. was born. Isn’t he a cutie. Even though he was 11 days old he was a good sleeper and photographed beautifully. Loved cuddling him!!

The Davis family have been coming to me since their prenatal session with Older sister Miss. B. Her sister Miss P. is a fireball for sure!!! Her 6 month session she had me making all kinds of noises and acting silly to get her to smile or laugh or well, scream.  This time she was all smiles and giggles.

This is a wonderful new family who was referred to us by a relative. They are one of my new baby plan members and am so glad to welcome them to the Baby Boo Photography family. This little one was a little young for smiles real big, but she pulled out a few of them with some coaxing from me. Big sister came a few days later and was one of my fairies.

And last but not least one of my favorite boys in the world. This is Mr. M. He is the son of some friends of ours and I swear the child could have been mine with that red hair. He is such a joy to photograph and I love him to pieces!! He makes me smile and laugh every time he comes in the studio.

Well, this is my first official post for the new BLOG! I’m still working on the format and what images to post, but thought I would give it a go and jump right on in.

It was a very busy week in the studio – January and February are usually slow times for photographers, but not us-people are having babies every day, so we stay extra busy all year long. It wasn’t just busy with sessions. We also had 3 Dr. appointments to contend with last week also-mostly checkups. I would ask that you keep my little Kaitlyn in your prayers. She suffers from Alopecia which is a form of hair loss.  She has had it off and on since 2nd grade, but this winter she developed 3 large bald spots in her head. What a brave girl she is-she got 8 injections in her scalp last Thursday to help stimulate hair growth-pray that it works and that she grows out of this skin condition. It’s so hard on girls going into middle school with all the emphasis on style and looks and some kids can just be so cruel. It doesn’t seem to bother her any, but I know she has a hard year coming up next year and I pray that it doesn’t spread and become more prominent. Thank you in advance for your thoughts of her. Now on to the fun things -PHOTOS-!

This little cutie just smiled and smiled. Love the 3 month age! He also got to model a new bear hat I bought from my dear friends Jessica Vogel and Barbara Yonts of BAJE Designs. The are also fabulous photographers who have taught me so much over the years.

Miss A. is usually all smiles for me and you can’t tell from these cute images that she was none too happy to be having her photograph taken. Love her cute little chunks and smiles that I did capture. Love this family! Daddy has a tendency to give me a hard time, but I’ve figured out he only does that with those he likes a lot, so I must he high on his list!!

I had the great honor to photograph this little princess. Her daddy is a basketball coach, so we made this session fun with the hat and ball. So funny-she kept wanting to lick the ball. She got to model one of my new ribbon bonnet hats and was all smiles and giggles while doing it.

You know I love my babies, but I also have lots and lots of fun with the preschool age. This fun loving 4 year old was a joy to photograph. She thought I was just so funny and did whatever I asked. LOVE the image at the top of her laughing!!! That image pretty much sums up the whole fun session.

AHHH! Newborns! This cute little fellow slept like a champion! I love it when moms let me be creative and have fun with a newborn session. I always try to incorporate some classic as well as fun and bright props for all my newborns.

Baby Boo Photography’s first post

Hello everyone! Well, this is my first post for my new BLOG. I’m hoping that this will be a great way for everyone to see what great things we are up to. The plan is to post each Monday when I do my facebook posts. It will be a great way for you to share a few images from your session as well as a way for me to tell you about specials and in general what is going on at Baby Boo Photography and in our lives.

So, to start things off I would like to thank all of you who have been with me for 10 years! Yes we are celebrating our 10th year in business this summer! I have many clients who have been with me the whole time and others who hop around to other studios, but always find their way back to us! I so enjoy my job and love meeting the new moms who come into the studio. I have been photographing a lot and I mean a lot of newborns over the past year. I love that I get to cuddle and play with them-reminds me of what being a mom really means.

My babies aren’t little anymore. Kaitlyn is 10 and in 5th grade and Andrew just turned 12 and is in 6th grade (middle school). Our lives are full of dance, guitar, basketball, glee club, STLP club and many more things, so to say the least I do stay busy. As always I structure the studio business hours around my children, so we close at 3 and I sometimes work til 4, but after that I go upstairs and I’m mom. I’m blessed to get to do what I love and get to spend as much time with my family as I can. Thank you for helping make that happen by supporting Baby Boo Photography. Just so you can see how wonderful (doesn’t every mom say that) my children are!! Have a wonderful week and THANKS!
